Dr. Catherine Buyrn is from Chesapeake, Virginia, a suburban city in the Tidewater area. She went to Virginia Tech to obtain her B.S. degree in Animal Science in 2018 and continued at Virginia Tech to attend Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated in 2022. She first worked as a mixed-animal veterinarian in a small rural town in Virginia, then moved to the Raleigh area to be closer to family. She has worked in private practice in small animal medicine in Raleigh for the past 2 years at Quail Corners Animal Hospital.

She is passionate about fear-free and low-stress handling and understands the importance of at-home palliative care and euthanasia. Her vet growing up had a small-town feel, was a family friend & would always come out to the house when it was time to say goodbye to their loved pets. She understands how difficult this decision can be and wants to help make the process as smooth and peaceful as possible for everyone.

Dr. Buyrn has 2 cats, Jack and Roo. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exercising and going on walks, crocheting, watching TV, and spending time with family and friends.
