Dr. Leslie Sanders
Dr. Leslie Sanders, a native of New Jersey, discovered her passion for veterinary medicine at a young age while caring for her stuffed animals. She pursued her dream and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Dr. Sanders then followed her passion to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing her final year at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.
In 2016, she relocated to Holly Springs, North Carolina with her family to continue her veterinary career and make a positive impact on the community.
Dr. Leslie Sanders’ journey into veterinary medicine was shaped by a deeply personal experience. While away at college, she faced the heartbreaking decision to let go of her childhood cat, Coke, whom she had cherished since she was four years old. Unable to be present or receive the support she needed to grieve, the lack of closure left a lasting impact on her. This experience fueled her vow to always be there for both her own pets and those of others, ensuring that no one would have to face such a difficult decision alone.
In recent years, Dr. Sanders experienced the loss of her beloved cats, Skitty and Jezabelle, who had been by her side for much of her adult life. Losing them, so close together, was a devastating experience. However, she was grateful to be present for their final moments and thankful for the compassionate veterinarians who provided support, kindness, and understanding, making those moments as peaceful and loving as possible.
Dr. Sanders is passionate about providing compassionate end-of-life care for pets, especially in the comfort and privacy of their homes. She believes this service is invaluable to pet owners during such a difficult time, which is why she is thrilled to be part of the Azure Holland team.
When she’s not working, Dr. Sanders enjoys spending time with her husband, three boys, and her cat Elsa. She loves traveling, baking, and is a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Flyers.
