Dr. Leslie Sanders
Dr. Leslie Sanders grew up in New Jersey and decided at a very young age, while treating her stuffed animals, that she wanted to become a veterinarian. She received her bachelor of science from Fairleigh Dickinson University in NJ. She then followed her passion and graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and attended her last year at University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine She relocated to Holly Springs, NC in 2016 with her family.
Dr. Sanders had to make a difficult decision on the phone while away at college to allow the passing of her childhood cat Coke she had since she was four years old. Not able to be present nor have the support and help to grieve was extremely difficult which didn’t allow the closure she needed. She vowed from that experience to always be there for not only her own pets but for those of others.
Recently, she experienced the loss of her 18 and 20 year old cats Skitty and Jezabelle in close succession. They were a part of most of her adult life and the loss of each was devastating. She was able to be present with each one’s passing and is thankful to each veterinarian whose kindness, support and understanding allowed her to make the last moments peaceful and surrounded by love.
Being able to provide compassion and support for pet owners during the difficult end of life time in the comfort and privacy of their home is an invaluable service, which is why she is thrilled to be a part of the Azure Holland team.
When Dr. Sanders is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, three young boys, cat Elsa and friends, traveling, baking and watching hockey (she’s a huge fan of the Philadelphia Flyers).
